Words

I'm interested in making paintings that contrast formal elements of color, shape, light, and technique. My artworks continue to evolve, yet tend to sustain a balance between intuitively setting up an active condition, and reacting to that condition using focused drawings and brushwork. I deliberately employ variance in the pace at which I work. This approach results in imagery that I find to be both static and dynamic.

Some of the paintings and drawings utilize representational forms to imply a narrative. Others start with a single mark which is then reacted to and compositionally built upon, gradually expanding outwards towards a full image.

The employment and manipulation of spatial illusionism allows me to render forms to fully occupy the environment from which they’re made, providing them with level of implied substance.
